Archangel Michael

This beautiful chapel is located in the historic center of the village of Akaki, positioned between the mosque and the church of Panagia Chryseleousa. Its present structure is a modern building, as the complete rebuilding and restoration of the original, old church was judged economically unviable. Its interior is fully decorated with impressive, modern wall paintings that depict saints and religious scenes, such as the Ascension of the Lord. Owing to its limited size, it functions mainly as a daily hermitage for individual prayer and the lighting of candles by local and foreign visitors.
