Archangel Michael

This historic monument is an excellent example of medieval church building with a dome, which originally functioned as the katholikon of a monastery. During the period of Ottoman rule, the space acquired special religious importance as it was used as the seat of the Metropolis. In its interior, despite the passage of the centuries, precious and rare wall paintings survive that depict hierarchs and religious scenes. The simplicity of its exterior stone-built structure is complemented by the absence of a bell tower, preserving its authentic monastic atmosphere.
