Cathedral of Saint John

This historic church is located next to the Archbishop's Palace in the old town and was the main cathedral of the capital for centuries. It was built on the site of an older medieval Benedictine monastery and stands out for its single-space, vaulted character. Its interior is world-renowned for the impressive, fully preserved wall paintings of the eighteenth century, which depict important biblical and historical scenes of the Cypriot church.
