Chapel 13 Holy Martyrs of Monastery Kantaras

This particular newly built chapel is located in Strovolos of Nicosia, built right in the bed of the historic Pedieos River. The location was chosen as at that very spot in the year 1231 the thirteen monks of the Monastery of Kantara were martyred, who were dragged by horses and burned at the stake because they did not renounce Orthodoxy. Owing to its pilgrimage and martyric character, as well as its very limited interior space, the church functions as a spiritual refuge and is not available for secular sacraments.
