Chapel of Prophet Elias

This is an isolated and contemplative country chapel that is built on one of the lush green mountain slopes of the mountainous community of Odou. As Christian tradition dictates for religious monuments that are dedicated to the Prophet Elias, the church dominates a particularly high spot, offering a unique panoramic view over the surrounding area. This small stone structure functions mainly as a hesychasterion and a place of individual pilgrimage, while it gathers the inhabitants for the annual festival every July.
