Chapel of Saint Mamas

This beautiful and small chapel is located at a very short distance from the central church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in the heart of the community. It is a single-aisled church of Franco-Byzantine style with a dome, which preserves inside it fragments of valuable wall paintings from the late sixteenth century. On its north-western side stand out the carved medieval emblems of the church's founder, which depict an upright lion and a fish. The site is connected with rich local traditions of religious awe and is a protected medieval jewel of the area.
