Chapel of Saint Theodore of the Chortakia (Ruins)

This important medieval monument is located in the rural location Chortakia, a few kilometers outside Sotira, at a short distance from the well-known church of Panagia of Chordakiotissa. The main church dedicated to Saint Theodore the General has unfortunately fallen into ruins over the passage of the centuries, with its stone walls now surviving at a very low height. In contrast, the narthex of the church, which was constructed in a later phase of the middle Byzantine period, survives almost intact. The space is protected as an ancient remnant of the rich ecclesiastical history of the area, offering an evocative image to passers-by.
