Church of Panagia of Chrysogeriotissas

This imposing and historic church rises upon the top of a pine-covered hill and is the oldest space of worship in the Municipality of Geri. It is built with stones that come from the destroyed Byzantine monastery of Panagia of Alypos, which previously existed at the very same spot. In 2001 it was officially declared an ancient monument by the Department of Antiquities, which then proceeded to extensive works of restoration and redevelopment of the surrounding space. The church operates normally, celebrates its feast magnificently every September at the Nativity of the Theotokos, and hosts with particular devotion various social sacraments of the faithful.
