Church of Saint George

This historic church was one of the two central parish churches of the occupied town of Trikomo, playing a decisive role in the spiritual life of the area. It is an imposing stone structure of the basilica type, which is decorated with elaborate exterior architectural elements and an impressive bell tower that testifies to the rich religious heritage of Mesaoria. After the events of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the lawful residents were violently driven out and the church was cut off from its Christian flock, remaining for decades a desecrated and silent witness to the refuge.
