Church of Saint Katerinas

This particular historic church was built during the period of Frankish rule by the royal house of Lusignan and is an excellent example of medieval architecture. After the Ottoman conquest of the island in 1570, this elegant structure was converted into a Muslim mosque, known today as the Haydar Pasha mosque. Owing to the long-term change in its use and the de facto situation on the occupied side of the old city, the space now functions as a monument and is not available for Christian ceremonies.
