Church of Saint Marina

The historic church of Saint Marina was the religious center of the largest eponymous district in the occupied town of Kythrea. It is a traditional structure of the 18th century, which was later expanded and adorned with precious wall paintings and an important wood-carved iconostasis. After the events of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was savagely plundered and its relics were stolen; however, in recent years efforts are being made for conservation and rare, moving services are held for the displaced residents.
