Holy Church Analipseos

This large and majestic church is the central church of the occupied community of Acheritou. Its construction began in 1906 and was completed in 1923 thanks to the voluntary labour and donations of the inhabitants, who also financed entirely its elaborate iconostasis. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the building was abandoned, looted and remained desecrated for decades, although in recent years the exceptional celebration of individual summer services for the displaced faithful has been permitted.
