Holy Church of Apostle Andreou Syn Frenarous

This parish church was erected in the mid-eighties to meet the immediate spiritual and worship needs of the displaced families who settled in the government refugee settlement of Frenaros after the events of 1974. Architecturally it follows the type of the single-aisled basilica, having an austere but exceptionally well-cared-for interior with modern hagiographies and a contemplative wood-carved iconostasis. The church is dedicated to the First-Called Apostle Andrew, being for decades the central point of reference, consolation and spiritual cohesion for the refugee inhabitants of the area who carry the longing to return.
