Holy Church of Archangel Michael

The Holy Church of Archangel Michael dominates the square of Kato Lefkara and is the last living example of an old monastery of the Bodiless Powers (Asomaton) that flourished in the area during the 12th century. It is a stone, Byzantine gem with a dome, carefully constructed with traditional masonry and authentic medieval tiles. Despite its later architectural extensions of the previous century, the church keeps its historical identity intact. Inside it hides valuable relics and rare, though partly worn, Byzantine wall paintings (such as the Holy Mandylion), offering an atmosphere of deep contemplation and historic tranquillity to every visitor.
