Holy Church of God Sophia, Stroumpi

This church is located in Kato Stroumbi in Paphos and is the central church of the community, dedicated to the Holy Spirit. Its construction began in 1953 by order of the British Governor, in order to replace the older church of Saint George that was destroyed by the powerful earthquake of that year. It is an impressive stone-built edifice in Byzantine style with a dome, which dominates near the central square of the village. Inside it is kept a valuable icon of the Holy Spirit dating from the 15th century, while the official inauguration of the church was held in 1975.
