Holy Church of Holy Forerunner (St John the Baptist)

This is the main parish church of the occupied village of Melanarga in the Karpasia region. The stone structure was traditionally the religious and spiritual centre of the community until the events of 1974 and the uprooting of the Christian inhabitants. Owing to the ongoing Turkish occupation, the church remains inaccessible for the free attendance of the displaced faithful, making the celebration of weddings or baptisms completely impossible.
