Holy Church of Holy Forerunner (St John the Baptist)

This is the central parish church of the village, which is dedicated to Saint John the Forerunner, from whom the entire community took its name. The present church was built in the middle of the 20th century on the site of an older, smaller church of the 13th century that had been destroyed. The structure is impressive, with a tall bell tower and cladding of the characteristic dark stone of the area, while inside it houses icons of exceptional artistry and relics of great historical value.
