Holy Church of Panagia Apolytroseos

The Holy Church of Panagia Apolytroseos ton Aichmaloton (Deliverance of the Captives) is built in the mountainous community of Kannavia, in the Pitsilia area. It is a modern, majestic church that was erected on the initiative of the Association for the Welfare of Prisoners of War 1974, in order to be a living monument of faith and honour. Its architecture follows the type of the cross-in-square inscribed basilica with a dome, harmonised with the natural forest environment of the area.
