Holy Church of Panagia Eleousas

This is the main parish church of the occupied village of Makrasyka in the Famagusta district, which was completed during the 1930s. It is an imposing structure, for the erection of which the inhabitants transported stones by cart from the neighbouring villages, showcasing their deep faith. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was desecrated, savagely looted and illegally converted into a Muslim mosque, so that the celebration of Christian sacraments or free services is completely impossible.
