Holy Church of Panagia Evangelistria

This majestic church dominates the centre of Kathikas in Paphos and is the central church of the community. It was erected in 1870 upon the ruins of an older church of Saint Hypatios, who remains the patron saint of the village. It is a traditional vaulted structure with beautiful interior wall paintings that attract the interest of visitors. The community celebrates the church festively on 25 March, while on Good Friday the church is the focal point of the traditional re-enactment of the procession of Jesus to Golgotha.
