Holy Church of Saint Eleftherios

This exceptionally small and deeply contemplative chapel lies hidden along the busy pedestrian street of Onasagorou, within the walls of old Nicosia. It was erected in the early nineteenth century by the future Ethnomartyr Archbishop Kyprianos and serves as an official dependency (metochi) of the Holy Monastery of Machairas. Owing to its distinctive position among commercial shops and its very limited dimensions, the church is a quiet haven of prayer but is unsuitable for sacraments.
