Holy Church of Saint George

This remarkable church dominates the highest spot of the old settlement in Agios Georgios Kafkallou in the Nicosia district. Its erection lasted four years and was completed during the first quarter of the twentieth century upon the foundations of an earlier church. The architectural work is an excellent example of the Cypriot ecclesiastical tradition of that era, incorporating discreet Frankish influences in its structure. In its interior a devout atmosphere prevails, while the structure is the central spiritual and worship core for the entire local community.
