Holy Church of Saint George

This is the central parish church that dominates the heart of the village of Maroni, whose erection began at the end of the 19th century to cover the needs of the residents. The structure stands out for its well-kept stonework, the carved zoomorphic gutters, and the elaborate stone bell tower that was added later. In its interior is hosted a wood-carved iconostasis of excellent craftsmanship with icons crafted by the great icon painter and abbot of the Monastery of Stavrovouni, Dionysios Christidis.
