Holy Church of Saint John of the Theologian

This historic church dominates the occupied community of Mia Milia in the Nicosia district. Its architectural structure incorporates strong neo-Gothic elements, heavily influenced by the old cathedral of the same name in the capital. After the dramatic events of 1974, the church was forcibly abandoned by its Greek-Cypriot inhabitants and was subsequently converted into a Muslim mosque. Today, the displaced faithful continue to honour the Saint's memory by organising religious gatherings in exile.
