Holy Church of Saint Nicholas

This church was built in the mid-20th century in the type of the three-aisled basilica, replacing an older church of the 17th century that had been abandoned in occupied Pentageia in the Nicosia district. After the events of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was savagely plundered and a few years later illegally converted into a Muslim mosque. The structure of the building is distinguished by the simplicity of its design, but it remains inaccessible for the celebration of the Orthodox services and the sacraments of the displaced residents.
