Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi

This historic church is the central and largest church of the occupied community of Angastina in the plain of Mesaoria. The stone structure, built in the traditional style of the wider area, was through the ages the religious and social core of the village, as in its precinct the first local school was also housed from the end of the 19th century. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Orthodox residents were violently driven out and the church has since remained desecrated, empty of its holy relics and an inaccessible pilgrimage site for its displaced faithful.
