Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi

This church of exceptional importance is located in the center of Geroskipou and is one of the most important examples of Byzantine architecture in the entire island. The structure stands out worldwide for its unique arrangement with five domes, while in its interior survive precious layers of wall paintings that begin from the period of Iconoclasm. According to local tradition, the church was probably erected upon the ruins of an ancient sanctuary that was dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite.
