Holy Church of Saint Sergios

An important medieval monument with a rich historical course, which is built at the southeastern boundaries of the eponymous occupied village, very close to the ruins of ancient Salamis. The church was originally built during the Byzantine period upon the remnants of older settlements, using for its erection massive stones from the ancient kingdoms of the area. Unfortunately, after the violent uprooting of the residents in nineteen seventy-four, the building remained for decades without any care, with the result that it suffered serious damage. Recently extensive works of conservation and restoration were carried out to save its structure; however, the church remains inaccessible for the celebration of regular services by the displaced community.
