Holy Cross of Misirikou

This historic structure is located in the walled old town of Nicosia, very close to the church of the Faneromeni. It was erected during the Venetian period and is a unique architectural blend, as it combines the Byzantine style with strong Gothic and Renaissance elements. During the centuries of the Turkish occupation the edifice was converted into a Muslim mosque with the name Araplar mosque, while today it is preserved as a protected ancient monument, with no services or Christian sacraments held in it.
