Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael

This historic women's monastery is built upon a verdant hill to the southwest of the community of Analiontas. Although the roots of the monastery date back to medieval times, the present single-aisled and vaulted katholikon was radically built in 1769 under the aegis of Archbishop Chrysanthos. After a long period of desolation, the complex was fully renovated and reopened in the early 1970s, being now a protected archaeological monument. As it is an active and quiet monastery, the church serves exclusively the worship needs of the brotherhood and the pilgrims, avoiding the celebration of secular sacraments.
