Holy Monastery of Saint Neophytos of Enkleistou

The Holy Royal and Stavropegic Monastery of Saint Neophytos the Recluse is one of the most important religious and historic monuments of Cyprus, positioned in a verdant mountainous valley of Tala. It was founded at the end of the twelfth century by the Saint himself, who originally carved into the natural rock his hermitage, the well-known "Enkleistra," creating a unique cluster of caves with rare wall paintings. Today, the developed monastic complex includes the large katholikon church, attracting daily crowds of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world.
