Holy Water of Saint George

This is a distinctive place of worship that is a deep tunnel manually carved into the rocks of the mountain. Tradition relates that the cave was created when the Saint's horse struck its hoof on the rock during an intense period of drought. In the interior of the cave, which extends to great depth, a natural formation is shaped from the accumulation of salt and moisture. The consecrated water continuously gushed at the spot until the last decades of the twentieth century, attracting the faithful for its therapeutic properties.
