Medieval Chapel of Saint Catherine

This important medieval monument is more widely known as the Royal Chapel and is one of the most interesting examples of the Frankish period on the island. It is a small, single-space rectangular structure, which was built with reddish and greenish volcanic stones from the surrounding area. Internally it preserves valuable wall paintings on the walls and its vaulted roof, among which the depiction of King Janus and his wife stands out.
