Panagia Chryseleousa

This historic and imposing church is the main and oldest parish church in the heart of the community of Akaki, falling under the Holy Metropolis of Morphou. It is a large stone-built edifice with a traditional bell tower, which traditionally gathers the spiritual and social life of the villagers. Inside it are housed valuable relics, icons and an elaborate iconostasis that arouse contemplation in the pilgrims. Owing to its central position, its large capacity and its historical importance, it is the most popular space for the celebration of weddings, baptisms and national memorials of the area.
