Panagia Chryseleousa

This historic church is the main church of the community of Lysos in the Paphos district and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was built in the Franco-Byzantine style that marries traditional Byzantine elements with Gothic details, bearing an octagonal dome and careful ashlar masonry. The existence of coats of arms at its entrances attests that it probably functioned originally as a Latin church during the medieval period. Today the structure remains the central spiritual refuge and the religious landmark of the area for the inhabitants.
