Panagia Diakinousa

This is an impressive three-aisled church with two incorporated chapels, which is built in a beautiful valley to the south-west of the village of Prasteio Avdimou. Its name comes from the tradition that had the inhabitants seeing the Virgin Mary at night coming out of the church and walking in the alleys to protect them from epidemics. In the interior of the north-eastern part of the building, a miraculous holy spring (agiasma) gushes forth from a rock, reinforcing the mystical atmosphere of the space.
