Panagia Galaktoforousa

This very ancient, simple timber-roofed country chapel is hidden among lush green orange groves to the north-west of Alyki, on the boundary of the communities of Akrotiri and Asomatos. Although it was originally thought to be a structure of the 16th century, large restoration works carried out by the Department of Antiquities after a catastrophic fire in 2000 revealed its long medieval history. Owing to its exceptionally small dimensions, its protected archaeological nature and its isolated location among the orchards, the church remains closed and is not available for the celebration of weddings or baptisms.
