Panagia Makedonitissa

The church of Panagia Makedonitissa is the remaining katholikon of an old and important monastery, from which the entire modern area of Engomi took its name. This religious community experienced great flourishing during the Turkish occupation period, having rich water springs and rural expanses. Although the monastic complex was dissolved in the late 19th century, the historic church was saved and continues to function as one of the most contemplative parish places of worship in Nicosia.
