Panagia Odigitrias

This single-aisled church with a dome is located in the community of Marathounta in the Paphos district and is dedicated to Panagia the Odigitria. According to local ecclesiastical tradition, the structure rises on the exact spot where the Theotokos stopped to rest during her passage through the area. The church is built in a raised location offering an excellent view towards the village, being a central place of worship for the faithful, especially during the celebration of the Dormition (15 August).
