Panagia of Trachona

This historic church was originally built in the early twentieth century upon the remains of an older medieval church in the now-occupied suburb of Trachonas. After the events of 1974 and the refugee experience, the displaced inhabitants took care of the erection of a chapel of the same name in Strovolos, Nicosia. This modern place of worship, which is located near the industrial area, keeps alive the spiritual heritage and the religious traditions of the refugees.
