Panagia Theotokos

The church of Panagia the Theotokos (also known as the church of the Theotokos in Galata, which borders directly on Kakopetria) is an exceptional monument of mountainous Cyprus. It belongs to the type of the single-aisled timber-roofed church with the characteristic pointed roof of the Troodos area for protection from the snow. Inside it, valuable and exceptional-quality wall paintings of the early 16th century are preserved, which follow the late Byzantine tradition with strong Renaissance influences.
