Saint Andronikos

This extremely small and plain medieval chapel is located about three kilometers east outside the village of Frenaros, being an authentic architectural gem of the Byzantine period. It is a single-space structure of the type of the compact cruciform domed church, which is sturdily built with rough hewn limestone blocks. In the interior of the church survive very few and very faint traces of its ancient wall paintings, while it has a simple, poor wooden iconostasis with a few hanging icons. The church opens its gates for a service only once a year, in early October, when the community gathers to honor the memory of the holy couple.
