Saint Gennadios (Ruins)

This monument is a ruined medieval church constructed of stone, which is located on the boundaries of the community of Kallepeia and the abandoned settlement of Moro Nero in Paphos. According to ecclesiastical tradition, the church is directly connected with Saint Gennadios, Patriarch of Constantinople, who had taken refuge in the area for an ascetic life and was buried there. Historically, embedded clay pipes had been placed in the walls of the structure for the absorption of sounds and the avoidance of echo during the services. Owing to its ruined state, it no longer has a functional roof or capacity and is mainly a historic sight for hikers.
