Saint George 10AI - 12AI, Avgorou

This important Byzantine church is located in the central core of the free community of Avgorou in the Famagusta district. It is a vaulted structure which preserves in its interior important wall paintings, although partly covered by later plaster, that testify to its long religious history. Over the passage of the centuries it received architectural additions, such as the exterior portico with the two arches, while above the central column stands out a relief stone icon of the mounted Saint George. The church is excellently preserved, fully accessible, and one of the most historic worship monuments of the Kokkinochoria area.
