Saint George

This historic church is built in the center of the community of Akapnou and belongs to the type of the single-aisled wooden-roofed basilica. In its interior survive precious samples of old painted decoration, which however suffered significant alterations and damage during a great fire in the 1970s. The church, which was officially inaugurated in 1922, is one of the most remarkable ancient ecclesiastical monuments of the area and is served religiously by the community of Parekklisia.
