Saint George

This impressive church dominates the center of the village and was built at the end of the 19th century upon the ruins of an older church of 1500. It was originally dedicated to the Panagia, but was renamed in honor of Saint George after a miracle that saved the residents from the plague. Architecturally it is a three-aisled basilica with a traditional double wooden roof and grooved tiles, a characteristic feature of the mountainous areas of Troodos. In its interior are kept historic relics and an elaborate iconostasis of 1906, being a beautiful space for the celebration of sacraments.
