Saint George

The church of Saint George is the central and historic church of the village of Monagri in the Limassol district. It is built in the type of the single-aisled vaulted basilica with a pointed stone apse, using the traditional white stone of the area. In its interior survive precious samples of ecclesiastical art, such as rare wall paintings that combine subject matter from the Old and the New Testament. The church was radically renovated during the 19th century, preserving unchanged the devotion and the religious heritage of the community.
