Saint Luke

This historic church is located in the eponymous district of old Nicosia, within the Venetian walls. It was erected in the mid-eighteenth century on the site of an older church, being for years an important religious center and a true museum of Byzantine icons. After the events and the destruction of 1958, as well as the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church is located in the occupied area of the capital. Owing to the de facto situation, the space no longer operates for Orthodox worship, nor is the celebration of sacraments possible.
