Saint Mamas

The medieval church of Saint Mamas rises to the north of Idalion, next to the old cemetery of the community and very close to the First Primary School. It is a structure of Gothic style with intense structural simplicity, in the interior of which dominate embedded marble columns from the Ancient City of Idalion. This church was an inspiration for the great poet George Seferis, who was moved by the distinctive latch of its door and wrote the poem "Details on Cyprus."
