Saint Mavri

This very old and picturesque chapel is built on the banks of the Kryos River (Cold River), surrounded by an impressive, protected plane tree of hundreds of years. It is of the type of the Franco-Byzantine church with a sloping wooden roof and tall stone walls that have only narrow openings instead of classical windows. In its interior, which is reminiscent of an early Christian catacomb, survive rare wall paintings of Palaiologan style, while in the depths of the church a famous therapeutic holy spring (agiasma) continuously gushes.
